The real-estate market of Ontario has over recent years followed that of much of Canada in general – explosive growth that continued despite governmental efforts to slow the ascent. Things had indeed slowed as of the beginning of 2015, though property prices were at the time still on the up – albeit at a slightly slower pace. Rent yields were somewhat sketchier during the period of excessive property price growth as average rents just couldn't keep pace, but with averages still hovering around the 5 per cent mark, it's hardly the same picture of doom and gloom so many other international housing markets are facing.
