It’s fair to say that Argentina’s real estate market suffered as a result of the late 2011 withdrawal of the law allowing transactions to be made in US dollars. Nevertheless, the country as a whole is incredibly vibrant, resilient and is proving itself to have exceptional potential for the future. The decline in property values seems to have tapered off in most regions, while in areas like Buenos Aires investors continue to enjoy attractively high rental yields. Taxes can be high – almost 15% of the annual rent – but so too can be the returns. Safe bets like Buenos Aires and San Juan continue to represent the most attractive regions of all, but others are opening up all the time with their own unique selling points for investors.
