Description of North Rhine-westphalia
One of Germany's most heavily-populated states with over 18 million residents, the North Rhine-Westphalia region is famed for its prosperity and beauty alike. Extremely popular with tourists and with a booming local and regional economy, the region is home to no less than 550 museums and 68,000 monuments. This is where tourists tend to flock for that traditional taste of old-world Germany, along with the obligatory beer and sausage synonymous with visitor expectations. Rent yields in the region of 4 per cent to 6 per cent are seen as the norm, but this can swing wildly in either direction depending on the region and the property. Tourist demand peaks in the warmer months, although remains solid for most of the year.
