Description of Berkshire
For investors interested in the opportunities of tomorrow as opposed to those shining brightest today, the Berkshire town of Reading has been singled out as the one to watch. The reason being that 2014 brought about a 13 per cent increase in average rent yields compared to the year before, a climb some economists project may well continue for some time. The Berkshire average of around 4.7 per cent gross may not be the UK's most impressive, but in terms of year-on-year growth there's only Brighton managing to outperform Reading.
Rising property values are making it more difficult for newcomers to the game to turn a profit, but the potential for getting in at the ground floor hasn't escaped the attention of national and international investors alike.
