Famed for creating the most wonderful pizzas in Italy and by extension the whole world, it’s little wonder Lombardy attracts a pretty strong crowd of domestic and international visitors each and every year. Interestingly, Lombardy also happens to be perhaps the most affluent region in the whole of Italy and is something of a millionaire’s playground – when it comes to luxury living and high society, even Rome isn’t a patch on Lombardy, which is home to the stunning shores of Lake Como. With glamorous residents such George Clooney drawn to Lombardy's natural beauty, the area's reputation continues to attract property buyers. It’s also perfectly possible to succeed in Lombardy with holiday lets and buy-to-sell luxury properties – long-term rent yields, however, aren’t anything to write home about. Most importantly, while much of Italy has been stuck in a financial slump, Lombardy isn’t the kind of region that’s influenced by national economic hardships.
